Models Own Beetlejuice Nail Polish

I've been after a good nail polish for some time, especially these days, because my hands and nails are currently a sight for sore eyes - they sure could use some TLC!

These beauties caught my eye the other day when I was browsing through ASOS. These Models Own Beetlejuice polishes are pearlescent, jewel-toned nail polishes that draw inspiration from shiny, sheeny beetle wings.

Each shade consists of four individual colours, which are then mixed into one multi-tonal, shimmering colour, resulting in a multi-faceted nail colour that is constantly changing. How cool is that?

Rather unimaginatively, the polishes are called (from left) Golden Green, Pinky Brown, Purple Blue, Aqua Violet and Emerald Black. Here's how Models Own describe their colours:

Aqua Violet, a true sky shimmer; Pinky Brown, a warm rusty pink; Golden Green, a fresh energetic acid; Purple Blue, a vibrant punch of fuchsia indigo; and Emerald Black, a bold blackened midnight peacock.

The Beetlejuice nail polishes are new for November 2011, and can be bought here. Models Own are running a really good deal at the moment, where you can buy all 5 polishes, plus a 3 in 1 Base Coat / Top Coat / Gloss for
£20. Usually, each bottle goes for
£5, so it's a £10 (or so) saving. If you're a nail polish fan, I reckon it might be a set that's worth investing in just for the colours. I'd really like to give Aqua Violet a try!
Has anyone used Models Own nail polish before?

Events: Cozycot 10th Birthday Bash - "Shirt Up"

10th CozyCot Birthday Bash

Local beauty, fashion and all-round wellness website Cozycot.com is celebrating its 10th anniversary this December, and to celebrate they'll be throwing a birthday bash that looks set to be really exciting! For a start, the first 100 Cotters (cute pet-name for the lovely ladies who frequent the site) to RSVP and turn up at the event on 3 December 2011 (Saturday) which starts from 6pm at, get this, an as-yet undisclosed location, to get a complimentary door gift.

Once you sign up with your Cozycot log-in, you'll be redirected to a page telling you that you've been successfully pre-registered. Your email will ping with a new message as well, which holds your all-important 6-digit registration number. This will facilitate your entry to the event on the night, and save you endless amounts of hassle, I'm guessing. ^^

What's more, this year, Cozycot is celebrating an item of clothing that symbolises empowerment, freedom and making a statement - the very ideals that Cozycot stands for. The ubiquitous piece of clothing is none other than...

The Shirt
More specifically, Cozycot has a "Shirt-On" campaign with 3 distinct campaigns for Cotters to take part in.

Campaign 1 is to wear a shirt in as creative a way as possible - the more creative the better, while Campaign 2 just needs you to turn up in your shirtly best on the night. Campaign 3 is something everyone can do - riffle through your (or your man's/family members') wardrobe and pick out clothing that could do with going to a better home. Cozycot will be donating these used items of clothing to charity, so you won't only look your best at the bash, you'll be doing your part to help the underprivileged too~ ^^

I came across a couple of videos that might be of use for Campaign 1. Enjoy!

For me, the date is saved!

FOTD: 28 October 2011

Funny face, I know. We were on the way to Dempsey for a friend's birthday party, and the look was easy, breezy, and simple, because the focus wasn't on looking too made up, after all. Here's the breakdown:

Base: Skin Food Aloe Sun BB Cream in Shade 2

Blush: Barry M Blusher in BL5 Apricot

Eyes: Daiso "Elizabeth" Dolly Wink sort-of-lookalikes (more on this later!) and Holika Holika Eye Charm double eyelid tape (novice skills!), Paul & Joe Eye Colour in 42nd Street (pink shade) and brandless brown eyeshadow (bought for RM5 for a glitter palette)
Highlighter: Skinfood Lime Secret Shine Base in #75 Lime Pearl Gold

Lips: Red Earth Lipstick Intense Gloss in PK229

Haul: Holika Holika

I was in town over the weekend window-shopping with a friend (keyword being "window"), when I paid Holika Holika a visit, upon which I ended up going shopping. They were having a 40% off sale, so here's what I got, complete with pictures, courtesy of my cellphone:

Apple Shine Scrub Foam (S$10.90)
This daily scrub foam containing micro fine scrub particles removes daily dead cell without stimulus.
Face 2 Change Cream Starter (S$18)

Cream starter that prepares a perfect skin before makeup
- Contains mild flower acid, seaweed extract and aquatic & botanical collagen gel
- Contains Argan oil and deep ocean water to provide moist and nutrition from deep layer of skin
- All-in-one product with skin care and primer function

The following were in a grab bag - the whole lot for S$10, which was a pretty good bargain seeing as each item cost between S$2.50 - S$5.

Cherry Blossoms Essence Mask Sheet

Containing essence of cherry blossoms extract that's rich in minerals, it provides water and nutrition to the skin to keep it moist, and clears up the skin tone to make clean and shiny skin.

Eye Charm

No official description, but I used these the other day, and they are pretty effective! No major quiggles (I'm single-lidded), but a couple of non-product-related comments, nevertheless.

Powder Puff

Again, no official description, but it's adorable and soft!

Eyebrow Shaver / Comb with Mirror

Nope, still no official description, but this is a quintessential grooming tool in a hopelessly cute package.

Plus! I got a couple of samples with my purchase. Would have hoped to get more, but they had a gift with purchase promotion that only started from S$80.

HD Skinny Primer Base

Contains silicone elastomer which creates a filler effect by covering pores for smooth skin texture. Makes skin moist and silky to the touch. Corrects skin redness and uneven skin tone for clear and bright complexion.

Peach Girl BB Cream

Rejuvenates a bubbly skin tone with vivid peach color.
