Versatile Blogger Award

What a great way to wrap up the week - my first ever award! The very lovely Dawn from Love & Looks awarded this to me. Do drop by if you have a moment - she's one of the prettiest moms I've ever met, and her blog posts are engaging and cute. Thank you again, Dawn! ^~^

Rules of the Honor:
1. Thank the person that nominated you with a link back.
2. Tell 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass this on to 10 newly discovered blogs and let them know they received the award.

7 Things About Me:

1) I live on an island, and love being near the sea.

2) I'm a lawyer by training - but before you imagine me fighting it out in the courtroom - I practice corporate law. ^~^

3) My favourite cartoon character is Rilakkuma!

4) I'm a cat person, although puppies and other baby animals are fun too!

5) My secret guilty pleasure is buying magazines for the freebie on the cover. Eeps. ^~^

6) I have a very brittle affinity with shoes - I tend to wear them till they break. :(

7) I love food! Which I'm paying for by having to go to the gym so that I'll be able to fit into my clothes, haha!

Photos This Week

I found this awesome program called Poladroid, and have been playing with it over the past couple of days. Basically it converts your photos to Polaroid-like photos - awesome because digital photos are modern and convenient, but nothing beats a good old-fashioned shake, shake, shake of a Polaroid picture!

Birthday Week!

It's my birthday this Saturday, and the husband has declared this whole week my Birthday Week!

Birthday Week Day 1 on Monday was a lovely dinner at Alley Bar at Peranakan Place in Somerset.

Alley Bar is literally located in an alley backlane between two conservation houses on Emerald Hill. It's longer than it is wide, dim with warm candlelight, and lined with hanging lamps and a gilt-framed mirror right at the end. I didn't take any photographs, and the internet doesn't seem to be throwing up any good images, but here's the best one I found:

I'd really like to go back for another visit. ^~^

Birthday Week Day 2 was even better - today Hubby ordered these off ASOS for me:

Paul & Joe Ornamental Makeup Collection in 002 Noel

 Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

I'm so excited - can't wait to see what else happens in the days leading up to Saturday! Needless to say I'm also trying to guess what he's gotten me for my birthday, heehee~ This week is going to whizz past!

In the meantime, random pictures from when I had a canter out at the weekend:

As you can see I got bored with adding watermarks halfway. Sigh! ^~^ Have a great week ahead!!

SOTD: Defying Gravity - Wicked

It's been a busy kind of week, so hi there! I've missed everyone! Work has gotten intense of late, but I'm excited, because hubby and I are going to the theater on Thursday evening to see Wicked!

Wicked is showing at Marina Bay Sands here in Singapore, and I've been waiting literally since last year to watch it. Can't wait! I'll likely be embarrassing myself singing along to all the songs (like I did when I went to watch The Lion King) to songs like the ever-popular Defying Gravity:

Isn't the Elphie Pullip cute? What is your favourite musical?

Happy 2012 and 11 Questions Meme

Hi! Hope that everyone had a great Christmas and New Years!

I've been tagged by Janine to do this 11 Questions Meme, so, here goes:

The Rules

Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post.
No tag backs.
No stuff in the tagging section about 'you are tagged if you are reading this.' You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

11 Facts About Me

1. I'm married! I tied the knot with my long-time love two years ago. Settling down has been one of the best things to happen to me in my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way ^~^
2. I love lipgloss. There are about 5 in my handbag at any one time.
3. I was a chorister for 10 years. The position that I sing is Alto.
4. I live in sunny Singapore - previously I lived in Durham, UK.
5. I have two little brothers (who aren't so little anymore).
6. My favourite colour is pink.
7. I don't drink alcohol, at all. The reason is because I make a miserable drunk XD
8. I'm a cat person. =^.^=
9. I'm very short - only 5'1 (-ish. On a good day)!
10. I love a good laugh. I'm a huuuuge fan of Community, How I Met Your Mother, and other witty comedies.
11. I love meeting new people, so, y'know, say hello sometime! ^~^

Questions From Janine

1. Where is the best place you've been to?
New York, New York! I visited in the summer of 2009, and its vitality and energy left a huge impression on me. Can't wait to go back again!

2. What is the best movie you've ever seen?
Breakfast at Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn was beautiful in that movie.

3. Which do you like more: Curly or Straight hair?
I have straight hair, so curly has always appealed to me. Guess the grass is always greener on the other side!

4. Would you spend more money in makeup or shoes?
If I had the means, both! But at the moment, I reckon I'd spend more money on makeup.

5. What is your favorite makeup brand?
Paul & Joe is a firm favourite, along with Etude House and Skin Food. Is that too many? o_o

6. What is your fashion must-have?
High heels, or a good sweater. I'm terribly sensitive to the cold, so having one nearby is always essential.

7. If you had the chance to travel, to which country would you go?
America or Korea, both of which I've been dropping not-so-subtle hints to the husband so that he'll bring me there for our next holiday.

8. What is your best feature?
My sense of humour.

9. Which do you like more: Ice Cream or Cake?
I can't decide! Ice cream cake?

10. High Heels or Flats?
High heels always, because I'm real short! Though it always helps to have a spare pair of flats in your bag in case feet start to hurt!

11. Would you like to go to the Past or Future?
I'd like to stay right where I am. Part of the fun is finding out what's around the corner when the time is right ^~^

Happy New Year's Eve!

I'm back from Hong Kong, and I had a wonderful time - eating, shopping and spending time with my family. It isn't often we all get to be together at the same time, and actually, this time was no different, because my youngest brother wasn't with us - but the rest of us had a really nice time because it's been ages since we've been on a family holiday.

I've been reading all these lovely post-Christmas posts, and I have a mini-post like that to share with everyone too! Hope that your holiday season was warm, joyous and bright. As 2011 draws to a close, I hope you've all got your resolutions drawn up too!

Family duties call, as I have a function to attend tonight, but in advance, I hope that everyone gets a kiss when the ball drops. Goodbye 2011, hello 2012!

I'll let the lovely Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play me out: What are you doing New Year's Eve?

Merry Christmas!

I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a merry, merry Christmas!

Hope that your holiday season is merry and bright, and that everyone gets to spend time with the people they love, with loads of presents!  ^~^

I got spoiled this year by the hubby and family - will post pictures when I get a moment, as I'm off to Hong Kong for a short trip tomorrow. Are you going anywhere nice for the holidays?

Going off to pack now, but I leave you with happy Christmas greetings from cats in party hats.

Surprise Hair Bobbles!

I've been complaining about misplacing my hair bobbles for the past few days, so the husband brought me back a surprise today when he got home from work:

Aren't they cute? I like the polka-dots - it also means that I don't have to go around with my hair looking like I've been dragged backwards through a bush then! ^~^

Have you had any surprises lately?

Tick, tock, goes the clock...

Hey there!

If you're reading this, you've probably somehow stumbled upon The Blushing Clock. What is a blushing clock? There wasn't too much that went into it, but primarily I thought the words sounded pretty nice together (and don't they?).
So, what is the purpose of this blog? Like many other girls out there, I have too much makeup than I have facespace to make use of, which results in me having drawers full of the stuff - beautiful, lovely stuff, that doesn't get put to good use when they could be living lives to the full - being utilised, and admired, and above all, loved!
So what I decided was this. This blog will be my chance to make use of all the stuff that otherwise would probably get lost in my mountain of possessions, and at the same time let me share my thoughts on said stuff with the blogosphere at large. This means that you can find out what's good, what's bad, what works and what doesn't, from the comfort of your own home. ^~^
I don't claim to be a professional by any means, but years of trying to find things that work for me has made me somewhat a little more confident when it comes to skincare and makeup. I've had my fair share of fashion faux pas, but hey, live and learn, right?
With this blog, you can expect a little bit of everything. Beauty and haircare news and reviews, how-tos (and how-not-tos!), and probably fashion and the odd cutesy thing that catches my fancy (and it's likely that there will be a lot of cutesy things. I'm a sucker for all things cutesy!). So, if you like what you see, stick around! It'll be fun. ♥
That's about it from my end, but you're welcome to have a look around, and hopefully you'll like what you read enough to come back next time ^^
Lots of love,
Ting@The Blushing Clock
